Summer Chats & Summer Blooms: A New Hobby!
Aside from working hard to keep Connecticut lawns green, I want to know: how is your summer going? What have y'all been up to? Any exciting new hobbies keeping you busy?
I actually took up a brand-new hobby myself this year: growing dahlias from tubers!
If you aren't familiar with them, dahlias grow from potato-like tubers planted in the spring. They require a bit of patience—needing plenty of sunshine, deep watering once they sprout, and regular pinching to encourage a bushy, bloom-heavy plant. But the payoff is absolutely worth it. My dahlias are officially starting to bloom, and the colors are spectacular! Check out a few photos of my recent blooms —>
